Some comments from our customers-
Down at the the Beach Cafe our darling of daytime dining, Tanya, never fails to impress with her continued smooth operations. With charisma and staff who wont be swayed by 10,000 shakes to to offer anything less than a relaxed cafe experience, this is a great destination. (review from Stephan Heppleston, Metropol Magazine. April 2012.)
The Beach has one of the best locations for a restaurant in Christchurch. Along with the traditional "big breakfasts' this was the only cafe that had a few more exciting breakfast alternatives. The Beach also had the biggest range of Gluten Free and Vegetarian options of the cafes visited ( review from Zest Magazine Wednesday 12th January 2011)
I just wanted to thank you all for making my 70th birthday party a happy one. Staff were very helpful in very difficult conditions ( weatherwise) and the food was great as usual. Will definitely be back. (Valerie, 28th December 2010)
I just wanted to thank you and your fantastic staff for a great night on Saturday. Everyone had a ball and I've had lots of people comment on how good the food was - could you pass that on to the chef for me please. See you again soon . (Deb, 40th Birthday Party. 22nd September 2010)
"consistent food & service " really really well worth the visit right out there at North Beach (Dine Out VIP Nulli Secundus July 2009)
Its been a year since my last visit to the Beach Cafe and there have been some changes to both the menu and the layout. I tried a new menu addition, Pork Belly that came on a bed of potatoes and steamed veg and it was outstanding in presentation and taste. The coffee was good again and I tried a gluten free chocolate fudge tart from the cabinet that just melted in my mouth. They were quite busy but the service was prompt and pleasant. Once again consistent quality food and service. (Dine Out, AndyPandy February 2010)
This has been our local since it first opened and we go there every week, often more than once, for coffees, lunch and brunch. Its a bit like "Cheers" where everyone knows your name and we have always found the staff friendly and efficient. The food is always good - really like the new lunch menu which has quite a bit of variety (Try the Platter, which was awesome)It's in a lovely location with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating - nice decor on the inside. Dog and cyclist friendly - great place for a coffee or lunch after a walk along the beach. (Dine Out, Dave June 2010)
A really nicely laid out spacious place with a casual yet modern vibe about it, loved the gas fire wall features! delicious food, excellent, friendly, prompt service, will definitely be back!! highly recommend the banana pancakes (Dine Out,Nicola July 2010)
“This cafe promotes itself as child friendly, so my 18 month old son and I went to check it out. It is a great place for mums and dads with young kids and we had a great time. My coffee and scone were fine, it was good to be able to sit back and let the kids enjoy themselves in an environment designed for them.” (Dine Out review Feb. 07)
"What a great place! I like everything about this cafe, had brunch there and took some friands and muffins home. Coffee is great. Would definitely recommend this place to all." ( Dine Out. Evie 31st January 2007)
